Pathogenic Attack Infuser Guide: Damage Scaling, Low-Weapon Builds & Diagnostics
Late-game damage depends less on weapon count than on how many compatible Infusers transform a hit, how each layer scales and whether the chain starts in a boss room. Build one measurable chain before spreading sideways.
SECTION 01
Separate weapons, triggers and Infusers
A weapon creates the initial attack, a trigger decides when it fires and an Attack Infuser transforms the attack crossing it. A high-rarity weapon with weak support can lose to a plain trigger feeding several compatible Infusers.
The recent low-weapon idea reduces stamina, slot and trajectory competition. It does not demand zero weapons; every weapon should justify its role.
- Use editor highlights to confirm the effect reaches the target.
- Rarity is not the benefit; the receiver tooltip is.
SECTION 02
Build one measurable primary chain
Start with a reliable hit and add one visible Infuser effect such as lightning, laser, area or damage over time. After each part, clear a comparable room and record Last Room Damage, startup and stamina.
If performance falls, check direction, compatibility, range, angle, proc rate and energy. Moving three parts at once destroys the evidence.
- Record the baseline room and startup.
- Add one Infuser without changing other links.
- Match visuals and tooltip changes to the damage result.
- Repeat without kills or pickups in a boss condition.
SECTION 03
Multipliers, weaponless triggers and Mythic fusion
Flat additions, percentages and multipliers are not interchangeable. Read the current expanded tooltip. Low-weapon bonuses only work when the count condition is met, while Flagella, dodge and active-triggered attacks can provide a different start.
Two matching Legendaries can become a Mythic, but fusion compresses two coverage lanes into one. Compare before and after when the two copies hold separate angles or triggers.
- One Mythic plus a complete Infuser chain is easier to verify than several unsupported weapons.
- Weaponless does not mean attackless; verify what the game counts as a weapon.
SECTION 04
Separate strong loops from sustainable loops
August reports show health-to-Overcharge engines that produce armor or upgrades near indefinitely. They prove a system ceiling but may depend on safe rooms, unlimited boss time or exact parts.
A practical run starts in finite time and stays positive through transitions, bosses and rooms without normal enemies. A loop that needs minutes of repeated input belongs in an experimental economy note, not a default clear plan.
- Measure startup time.
- Track net health, armor, stamina and damage for ten seconds.
- Retest without enemies and pickups.
- Keep an independent escape during self-damage or downtime.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Are fewer weapons always stronger?
No. Fewer weapons concentrate support and enable some bonuses, but coverage, startup and boss uptime still decide the result.
Why did a Legendary Infuser lower my damage?
It may miss the primary path, change trajectory or stamina, block an angle, or enhance an effect that never triggers.
Are infinite armor or upgrade loops good clear builds?
Treat them as experimental. Reliable clears care about startup, boss availability and positive value without infinite waiting.
