PATHOGEN BUILD / NANOBOT
Pathogenic Nanobot Layout Guide: Square and Triangle Connections
The Nanobot's scarce resource is useful adjacency. Each square or triangle should strengthen the path from internal organelles to the main weapon, not merely create another empty external slot.

It is not a Nanobot layout tutorial; use it to understand why a modifier needs a valid path before applying the shape decisions below.
SECTION 02
What squares and triangles contribute
A square has four edges and an internal slot, making it a practical spine for more internal nodes. A triangle has three edges and an internal slot, helping turn the structure and position an external weapon. An external slot reaches its own block's internal slot and can reach an edge-sharing neighbour's internal slot; a slot facing away from that neighbour may not connect to it.
The community layout mixes both shapes and preserves open edges for later growth. After every placement, check whether the new internal slot actually reaches your chosen weapon.
- Adjacent pieces do not always share an effective modifier path; check the editor highlight.
- Keep expansion edges open rather than sealing every face immediately.
SECTION 03
A practical single-weapon example
Put a Spore Cannon in an external slot reached by several useful internals. Add an Attractor to improve projectile contact, then Galvanic Infuser for extra arcs on attacks. Add a mitochondrion when Overload supply is insufficient; verify the link and room damage after each step.
This is a routing example, not a guaranteed draft. A reliable fast weapon can anchor the same structure until a stronger output option appears.
Single output · tracking and arcs
Concentrate limited internal connections on one weapon that can actually land hits.

- Confirm both Attractor and Galvanic Infuser appear on the effective path.
- Add a linked mitochondrion if consumers run dry.
- Rooms where projectiles otherwise miss
- Builds with scarce slots for one focused weapon
Watch forSpore Cannon fires slowly. If hit coverage is poor, adjust range and aim or use a steadier weapon.
SECTION 04
When is a second weapon worth a slot?
Some mutations reward fewer equipped weapons, and several Stamina-consuming weapons can reduce damage uptime. That does not make a one-weapon rule universal: a second weapon may cover blind angles or add useful no-Stamina functionality.
Before the Heart, compare room damage, Stamina recovery, and actual boss hit time with and without the extra weapon. Keep it only if its job survives that comparison.
- Record your current weapon's room damage and Stamina.
- Add the second weapon and check whether it splits the modifier chain.
- Compare clear time and movement room.
- Keep or replace it based on sustained boss output.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Are squares always better than triangles?
Squares have more edges; triangles turn the structure and can improve future placement. Mixed layouts are often more practical than edge count alone.
Why does an adjacent Infuser not buff my weapon?
External-slot orientation and the connection path matter. Check the editor highlight and the modifier's compatible target type.
Must the Nanobot use exactly one weapon?
No. One weapon concentrates support, while a second can cover range or utility. Decide from Stamina and sustained damage.
